On Saturday, October 27, the Region 13 International Phalaenopsis Alliance Fall Meeting
will be held at Carter & Holmes Orchids
in Newberry, South Carolina. Carter & Holmes is providing lunch for all participants, Please let them know if you plan to attend so they can plan for enough food. They will also be offering discounts on plants and supplies as at their open house. For those who have never attended a regional IPA meeting, there will be three special programs, plenty of time to share orchid experiences with growers from throughout the Carolinas and Georgia. There will also be a lively plant auction. Remember, your donations help produce the beautiful IPA Magazine and allow our region to have these meetings with excellent speakers. There will not be AOS judging this year. The programs include SCOS's own David Janvrin is giving a talk entitled "What's in a Name." The program will focus on the confusion of names associated with mericlone plants currently coming out of Taiwan and the implications for judging orchids associated with the change in orchid name registration with the RHS. I was privileged to hear the program at the Atlanta Regional Judging Center training in June. It is an extremely interesting program about a timely topic everyone needs to know more about. In additional Tom Harper from Stones River Orchids will be giving a presentation on The Taiwan International Orchid Show and Gene Crocker of Carter and Holmes will present a program entitled "My First 51 years of Growing Orchids"
